New Urbanism

Built in an early 18th Century Anglo-Dutch style, this architect’s self-designed family home is part of a small development on a former waste site located behind a row of once derelict clapboard houses. The space has been optimised through clever design and integrated furniture and fittings. A rich colour palette was chosen and applied by hand to enhance the client’s personal collection of Byzantine icons and Ottoman tiles. The result feels authentic and sensitive; a space that appears steeped in history, despite its relatively young age.
