About

Description of our services and projects; including a biography of our pre-eminent designer, Renee Killian-Dawson.

The Studio

With offices in London and the American East Coast, supported by a studio in Hampshire, we offer expertise across all aspects of interior architecture and design, from concepts and drawings to individually designed and commissioned pieces.

We work with a dedicated team of designers alongside architects, specialist finishers, lighting consultants and craftspeople to deliver outstanding results in a creative and individual way. Regardless of project size or whether it is historic or contemporary, we place the client at the heart of the process, working in collaboration to design spaces that reflect individual choices and lifestyles. The results are evidenced in richly layered interiors that enhance the broader landscape.

The combined skills of our team allow us to take on a broad range of projects around the world. In addition to our design service, we also use our keen eye to source antiques and fine art, and offer a small range of bespoke furnishings and related objects that can be manufactured to order or tailored to suit individual client requirements. These are supported by our woven and hand block printed fabrics.

Renée – Creative Director

Renée is Creative Director and Co-Founder of Studio Killian-Dawson. Growing up between the UK, the United States and further afield, she benefited from an education that exposed her to different cultures, histories and landscapes.

Renée studied Architecture and Classical Civilization at the University of Illinois before moving first to Greece and then to London. Her love affair with buildings, especially those whose pleasing decay borders on dereliction, and her passion for exploring the stories behind what one sees, led her into interiors. Starting work at a traditional design practice, Renée soon set up shop creating homes for friends, before establishing her eponymous firm in 2003 with her husband, Robert.

The couple relocated to the Charleston area of South Carolina in 2004, where they established the US arm of the business. Working across all manner of projects, including the sensitive reconstruction of historic homes and creating the narrative for modern builds, they quickly established a growing reputation for interior design and bespoke commissions across the US East Coast. In 2010 they returned to the UK, settling in the Winchester area.

Today, Renée leads the creative team who work on projects in both America and the UK, and are available for assignments further afield.

“This is a woman with a beautiful vision, but does not impose the one look for all her projects on each client. I imagine living in one of her interiors would help one live a more ordered, organized, restful and lovely life.”

and founder of Charleston Academy of Domestic Pursuits.

Robert Killian-Dawson

Robert – Managing Director

With a background in journalism and corporate communications for multinational clients, Robert oversees our marketing and operations.

Brought up in Europe and South East Asia, with a degree in Politics and Culture, his world view embraces many cultural and social influences.

His photographs uniquely convey the feel of interiors we create, partly because he is involved in the overall design process, but also because he understands the underpinning of Renée’s creative impetus.
