It can be hard to put the creative process behind designing an interior space into words without losing something of its magic. In one sense it’s a straightforward series of stages from the original brief through initial concepts, budgets, plans, measurements drawings and spreadsheets, leading to the eventual implementation and completion. But where do the ideas themselves originate? What is the spark that sets us off in a particular direction?
Words will probably continue to elude us; however, we can depict some of our creative process along the way. Dreaming and thinking outside the boundaries of space and time is of the utmost importance. This eventually distills down into the reality of a home or a hotel, or a club that is thoughtfully designed and a pleasure to be in. Painting by numbers or rushing to the easiest solution will never result in a lasting and satisfying experience of a space.
