Period Townhouse

Rebuilt in 1907 after a fire devastated a coastal American town, this period townhouse was originally an expression of wealth for a local grandee. Built entirely of cypress wood with mahogany trim, the property was in need of some loving attention. Using traditional techniques and a dedicated team of experts, every original piece of trim, paneling and floorboard was carefully revived or painstakingly reproduced using traditional joinery techniques. We replastered the lime and designed the kitchen to feel and reflect the 1930s-50s period, whilst ensuring it functioned in a modern way. Appliances for both the kitchen and bathrooms were integrated and concealed to ensure the history of the home was retained without compromising the needs of a busy modern family. Furniture, fabrics and fittings all carefully created the look and ambience of a home that has stood the test of time.
